Audio Described movies

Audio description is additional narration that translates images or other visual information or non-dialogue portions of film into spoken words so that people who are blind or visually impaired can access, enjoy and learn from works of popular cultural and educational importance. The original track is paused and audio description is inserted between dialogues of the movie.

A passionate team comprising of Ms Rummi K Seth, Mr Narendra Joshi and veteran actress Ms. Sushma Seth came together for this wonderful initiative. Ms Sushma Seth followed by her daughter Ms Kavita Seth have lend their voice to many audio described movies.

Saksham started with the film “Black” and since then more than 40 films have been completed which includes commercial films, children’s films, documentaries and some regional films latest being The sky is Pink and Dabangg 3.

Saksham Trust was honoured with prestigious Limca Book of Record award in 2019 for audio describing the maximum number of films in India.

For last 3 consecutive years, Saksham has been participating in the International Film Festivals of India, Goa and has become the first organization to promote Inclusive cinema for persons with disability at the International Film Festival.

The children’s films have been screened at the International Children’s Film Festival, Hyderabad. 

Saksham held special screenings of the audio described version of movies for children/persons with visual impairment to mark the occasions like Children’s day and International Disability day.

To make cinema inclusive, Saksham has now joined hands with XL Cinema app where sighted and visually impaired can enjoy the show together where the visually impaired will watch the show with audio description and sighted without it.
